Author : Ken Spillman
Illustrator : Manjari Chakravarti
A little girl spills, drops, breaks, trips on things. She is called Clumsy, Slowcoach, Careless... words that scare away all other words. But in her head, words become stories and stories, pictures – and with a box of paints and a brush, she sweeps herself away from the names people call her! Vivid watercolours lift her from her everyday milieu into a swirl of exuberance.

Simple but profound
Anyone who has ever found solace in an imaginative world – whether one of words or pictures – should find much to relate to here. Spillman has captured the ability of art to move us and transport us to new places... The illustrations are an excellent fit. Chakravarti seems to be just the right artist for this story – her watercolours beautifully capture the feelings and expressions of the child, while also managing to evoke a strong sense of place.
