A ‘full of heart’ story
Along the way, the story gave us plenty to learn too…. History… Geography… Art… Diversity… This book brought so much to the library table!!! I loved Mamta Nainy’s story and Sandhya Prabhats illustrations brought out all the colours of Rajasthan in eye popping detail! @mythaunty, library educator
From a writer’s reading nook
I self-soothe by reading children's literature… Ammiku Oru Pudavai/A Saree For Ammi takes the gentlest touch to themes of class and labour, with vibrant images. @sharanya_manivannan, writer
A platform to discuss crucial issues with children
A Saree for Ammi raises the issue of the economic divide. A daughter of weaver parents’ wonders “Ammi makes so many sarees, but she doesn’t wear any of them”. For a book that primarily caters to children (5+ says the cover) this is welcome indeed... The young and enterprising girls are judged, advised, preached to by none as we flip pages. The text and the illustrations gel together. The eyes, especially, are eye-catching! Nimesh Ved
